Oftentimes, I think writing about how to fix a niche problem can be more rewarding than fixing the problem itself. The thought of someone else stumbling across your article and finding the exact solution they were struggling with themselves (like I have done many times in the past) is worth it to me.

Let's break down the barriers and expectations of having to make money to make something worth it (in the western, privileged world context of software engineers making $100k a year).
